In the last couple of years, I started publishing “Daily Posts” on my blog. This was a way for me to share random thoughts without writing an article. I enjoyed it. However, I quickly realized that a “daily” blog was not something I enjoyed. I also ran out of creative ideas. So, I am repurposing the “Daily Post” and removing anything that might hint at an impossible and undesired deadline. My new title for my random posts is “Fragments.” That said, I will continue the numbering system. This is my vain attempt to avoid starting over, to feel like this “fragment” is part of a larger story, and to simply lie to myself so that I feel better about this change of direction. Ahh, the human mind.
This is a great article on the value of memorizing chunks of Scripture: “This Ignored Spiritual Discipline That Will Change Your Life” (Relevant Magazine)
This is a great quote from John Maxwell’s book The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: “The first rule of holes: When you’re in one, stop digging.” (Molly Ivins) My wife will appreciate it if I take this message to heart!
Our local church has a library. There is a beautiful copy of the Quran, Islam’s holy book. I deeply appreciate that our church is not afraid to have it here for people to read, reference, and become educated. I have read the Quran. I want to be informed. Christians need to be informed. Did Daniel not study and learn “all kinds of literature and learning” (Dan. 1:17 NIV) while a prisoner in Babylon?
Two Upcoming Books! One book I will announce in the next few weeks. No details yet! The second book will be the fourth in my Philosophy for Kids series. It is on Aristotle’s metaphysics and is a conversation between a heartbroken acorn and a wise ol’ owl. It might be my favorite. Stay tuned!
