Church: Why We Keep Showing Up

(1-minute read)

Sometimes, you choose, by sheer will, to remain part of a local church because Scripture commands it. That’s it. Nothing romantic. Nothing fancy. Maybe not even a desire to do so.

Other times, you love it, enjoy it, receive life from it, and give life to others.

But if your church attendance and involvement depend on how you feel on any given Sunday, it’s only a matter of time before you walk away.

No perfect church.

No perfect pastor.

No perfect worship leader.

We simply obey Jesus, regardless of how we feel on any given day. We put one foot in front of the other, choose to be givers—not just consumers—engage with our hearts, listen to the Word, open ourselves to God in worship, and look for every opportunity to encourage and strengthen the faith of others.

“Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25 NIV)
