The books we read—and share with our children—matter deeply. That’s why I’m going to start regularly recommending specific children’s books that my wife and I believe are high-quality, nourishing to the soul, and far better than the flood of shallow, lifeless titles that too often fill the shelves.

If you’re looking for a simple, meaningful book to read with your children, The Lonely Giant by Sophie Ambrose is a great choice. It tells the story of a giant who destroys the forest around him—only to find himself sad and alone when the trees and animals are gone.

Though not written from a Christian perspective, it encourages values like responsibility, wise stewardship of the created world, and care for non-human creatures—reminding us that when we harm the world around us, we all lose something precious.
