“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
(Luke 19:10 NIV)
Christians in America are growing increasingly comfortable with following Jesus without two essentials:
- Sharing the Gospel consistently
- Engaging deeply in the local church (not merely attending a worship service)

Yesterday morning, I repented of the first. Our transition pastor in our EPC church handed us Turning Everyday Conversations into Gospel Conversations—a short, no fluff book (120 pages) that I can’t put down. It’s practical, convicting, and easy to finish in a week. Repentance actually means to turn and go the other way, so reading this book is helping me prepare my mind and heart to be a better witness for Christ in all of the places where I live, work, and play.

The second is The Great Dechurching. I haven’t read it yet (ironically), but I’ve heard it’s the most comprehensive study to date on why people are leaving the church in America—and what we can do about it. If you’re a pastor, ministry leader, or simply someone who cares about the future of the church, I suspect this one will be well worth your time. I plan to dive in soon. If you read it first, let me know what you think. The Kindle version is only $3.99 today!
May our hearts be gripped with a deeper readiness to live as Gospel-minded Christians. (What a novel concept 😂)
