Well, here goes. A Chinese proverb reads, “The journey of a 1,000 miles begins with a single step.” I have recently self-published two books on Amazon. They have not exactly become “best sellers” (that is putting it mildly). However, both were things in my heart that I had to give birth too. My wife Allison is an artist. When I was describing to her early on in the process of writing how I felt, she lent me language from the world of an artist that fit perfectly. She told me that as an artist, she will get an idea in her mind/heart that until she produces it, make her miserable. To use other language, one feels impregnated with something that one must give birth too. Concerning my two books as well as this website/blog, I felt like I had to do it. I do not know how many people it will reach, but my dreams are big and my heart is full.
You have to start somewhere, right?
We spend far too much time contemplating what God has planted in our spirit. Sometime you and I need to be stupid and foolish enough to go for it! The soul can be a horrible enemy to that which has been deposited by God in your spirit. When you are out of alignment (body-soul-spirit or soul-body spirit or any other combination), the body and/or soul through various mechanisms and impulses attempts to suffocate and kill every Divine spark of supernatural origin. Quit letting that happen. This website/blog is my refusal to bury something in my heart. I want God to use me to save Christians. He has saved me and continues to save me, so I want the Holy Spirit to use me to do the same in other people’s lives. A lame, lifeless, insecure, skeptical, doubt-filled, powerless Christian is arguably the most tragic happening in the Universe. All other ills might be solved if this tragic occurrence is remedied. It is not coincidence that God has called me to be a pastor. Ephesians 4 teaches me that as a pastor, my first calling is to lay down my life to equip ministers. This is every follower of Jesus Christ.
So, here goes! I hope you will follow this blog. I commit to making at least one post a week. My vision is that through this medium, Christians will be awakened, provoked, jolted, and relaunched into the absolute, ridiculous, beautiful fullness of the one and only, Jesus Christ. If Christians come alive, others will find Christ. It starts with us. This is always been God’s pattern. We would do well to heed the words of the Irish evangelist, Gypsy Smith. He said, “There are five Gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and the Christian, and some people will never read the first four.”
