Politics & Religion: A 30-Second Reflection for Christians

Regarding politics and religion, there are two things I don’t have time for:

1. A Christian who identifies as a Republican and believes that someone cannot be a genuine Christian if they voted Democrat.

2. A Christian who identifies as a Democrat and believes that someone cannot be a genuine Christian if they voted Republican.

We unite around the person, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We unite around the call to advance God’s Kingdom on earth (his presence and reign).

As we seek to live as followers of Jesus, let us remember that our ultimate loyalty is to His Kingdom, where love, humility, and compassion take precedence over any partisan ideology. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and be known not for our political affiliations but for our radical, unifying commitment to love God and neighbor as we seek to make Jesus Christ known.
